One of the meanings of the name “Azelia” (not to be confused with “Azalea”) is “Aided by God.”

It seems that a breeder placed her with a family who let her run free outside. As a result, a raccoon took one of her forearms when she was only 5 months old. The family then put her in with their chickens, where she became infested with lice. At that point, the breeder rescued her and brought her to us.

Azelia is wonderfully friendly with people, and has adjusted to being three-legged so well that most people don’t even notice!
