Arthritis in Rabbits

If a rabbit lives long enough, s/he will develop osteoarthritis. You can minimize how soon this will happen by:

  • Keeping the nails cut short
  • Keeping the rabbit slender and well-exercised

If your rabbit does develop aching, stiff joints, and if there are no bone spurs involved (only your veterinarian will be able to determine this), you can give them Myristol in alfalfa pellets (one or two pellets twice a day).

Rabbits we have treated this way have been hopping around like youngsters within two or three weeks. Myristol is available in our “Bunny Burrow” shop and can be found on our Price List. Myristol is not a medication, but a nutritional supplement, so you don’t need to be overly concerned about accidentally overdosing.
